Designing A Silk Scarf

The starting point for all my designs is my original artwork. I keep a sketch book brimming with ideas  and themes for future projects. I might start out with a giant colourful layout idea, which may transform into  either a mixed media painting, or maybe an enormous collagraph plate to be hand printed and coloured with inks and soft pastels. 

The design process then enters a very creative journey as scanned prints or paintings are adapted and manipulated on the computer using Photoshop. Colours are altered, and layouts and scale often played around with to arrive at the final design. Lastly, selected designs are digitally printed onto luxurious silk, before being beautifully pin hemmed , with logo tag and care instructions attached. All my designs are printed in the UK, less than ten miles from where I live in the Peak District.
